The Banff Mountain Film Festival seems an appropriate recommendation for this sub-zero weekend. It started in Banff, Canada, in 1975 and showcases short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports and environment. It has grown into a global phenomenon, and the world tour now includes Britain.
Even if (like me) you’re not the outdoors type, the fascinating films will leave you in awe of the spectacular scenery and you’ll marvel at the courage, self-belief and sheer zest for life of the people featured.
Reel Rock starring Sketchy Andy, who recently appeared with Madonna at the Superbowl, is definitely this year’s most talked-about film.
